Most people are thrilled when their credit card company automatically increases their credit line. But what they don't understand is that that credit card company may be using outdated information in order to give that minimal credit line increase. No matter what the increase is, if it's calculated on the income and rental information that you entered in a year ago, or 3 years ago, it may not be adjusted for what you may be making or spending now. This is why I always preach to ask for credit limit increases every 6 to 12 months. This way the ball is in your court as to what information is being used when the increase is being granted.
